Doctors and Medical Staff Should Be Aware of the Following:
Latinos in America do not tend to visit their physicians frequently. On average they visit their physician about once every six months (Servants, 5).
Latinos tend to have a family physician with whom they make appointments and they do not tend to seek second opinions.
The Hispanic mother usually does not have a preference for a physician based on race or sex.
Hispanics who do tend to have a preference are usually older, widowed, or are college graduates, and they tend to prefer a male Hispanic physician (Moreno, 436).
Hispanic parents often do not bring their children to a physician because of poverty and lack of health insurance.
Hispanic parents may not bring their children to a physician due to lack of transportation.
Long waiting-lines may cause them to leave.
