Message From the Director

St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program has a proud history of providing quality Family Medicine graduate medical education that spans more than three decades. The program continues to be strongly supported by St. Elizabeth Medical Center and embodies its mission by focusing on excellence in patient care and medical education. As a part of a community based program our residents have unencumbered access to a diversified group of patients along with the ability to acquire procedural training without competition from specialty residents or fellows.

St. Elizabeth Medical Center‘s main campus houses a 201 bed hospital that has recently renovated its Emergency Department and Orthopedic Units. St. Elizabeth Medical Center recently expanded services at the newly constructed St. Elizabeth Medical Arts. This location's services include Advanced Wound Care, Adirondack Sports Medicine Rehabilitation, Surgical Associates of Utica, a newly added Medical Group site, and outpatient radiology with service opportunities still available and growing. The Medical Center continues to expand its scope and location to provide better quality and access to care for our community.

The residents at St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program work together in an atmosphere of cooperation and peer support. Faculty and attending physicians are easily approachable and embrace their roles as mentors. Resident responsibilities continually advance over the course of the training program. Under the direct supervision of faculty, attending physicians and mentoring from higher level peers, residents are exposed to a program that systematically assesses progress and provides regular feedback.

If you are looking for a Family Medicine Residency, the faculty and administration of St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program would be pleased to speak with you. I encourage you to learn and experience first hand the multiple learning environments, facilities to support your graduate medical education, exceptional recreational opportunities and the camaraderie.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Mark E. Warfel, D.O., FAAFP
