Treatment for Lymphedema
The gold standard for the treatment of lymphedema is known as Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT). This treatment includes the following:
- Manual Lymph Drainage (a combination of massage techniques)
- Therapeutic exercise
- Multilayer compression wrapping
- Sizing for and ensuring proper fit of compression garments for long-term use
CDT works to remove the blockages of the lymphatic system, clearing the edema and empowering the individual and/ or caregivers to manage this issue for the long term.
